Beginning on April 9, eight teams from the two conferences will faceoff in an elimination tournament leading up to the Stanley Cup Finals. While the format has change throughout the years, the playoffs are a time honored tradition.
Postseason Upsets
While other playoff sports can be predictable, surprising upsets are common in the NHL. The Stanley Playoffs are practically synonymous with unpredictability. You never know what might happen out on the ice.
In the Stanley Cup Playoffs, there have been four reverse sweep comebacks, most recently was the Los Angeles Kings in 2014. The only other reverse sweep in sports history was achieved by the Boston Red Sox in the MLB 2004 Postseason.
