2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs
The 2017-2018 NHL season has been an exciting one. My midseason, Westgate’s odds to win the Stanley Cup had dramatically changed since the preseason odds were announced. The new expansion team, the Vegas Golden Knights, providing one of the most dramatic shifts in the odds by early January. With two pre-season games between the Los Angeles Kings and the Vancouver Canucks, this was also the first ever season to have NHL games played in China.
While it has certainly been an exciting season, we ain’t seen nothing yet!
Stanley Cup Playoffs 2018
Beginning on April 11, eight teams from the two conferences will faceoff in an elimination tournament leading up to the Stanley Cup Finals in early June. While the format has change throughout the years, the playoffs are a time honored tradition.
Other playoff sports can be predictable, surprising upsets are common in the NHL. The Stanley Playoffs are practically synonymous with unpredictability. You never know what might happen out on the ice.
In the Stanley Cup Playoffs, there have been four reverse sweep comebacks, most recently was the Los Angeles Kings in 2014. The only other reverse sweep in sports history was achieved by the Boston Red Sox in the MLB 2004 Postseason.
