Daytona International Speedway, home of the Daytona 500. It’s a 500 mile long showcase of speed, skill and determination. One driver will walk away as the DAYTONA 500 Champion, joining legends such as Richard Petty, Fireball Roberts, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Cale Yarborough and Dale Earnhardt.

Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing

On February 17, drivers will face off against each other and the track, featuring a relatively steep 31-degree banking. For the 61st running of “The Great American Race,” two-time DAYTONA 500 Champion Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be returning to be the Honorary Pace Truck Driver.

Who Will Take the Checkered Flag?

The Daytona 500 is as unpredictable as it is exciting. In 60 races, just seven drivers have  won from the pole position. Last year, Austin Dillon’s starting position was 14 and, in 2009, Matt Kenseth won from 39th position. And Richard Petty may have won by two full laps in 1973, but Denny Hamlin won by just .10 second in 2016. Even a driver’s age doesn’t make for reliable predictions. Victors have ranged from 20 to 50 years of age at the time of their win.
